Well over a year I have decdied to improve my youtube channel it used to look like this. I constantly asked myself why I cannot get views on my channel? Well the answer is simple.
- I did not consider the audience. I failed to ask myself what does the audience really care about?
Who is my audience? right now I imagine they are tech focused majority of men, only small percentage are women. Some of my audience are students, contractors, and business men looking to build a app.The audience trying to do very techanical and specific things like "deploy python on google cloud".
- The content is not good enough.
There is this relationship between the quality and relevnacy of contect to the specific audience. There many different audiences those audiences sizes have a limit in size and can determine how far you grow?
So here is list improvements I think I could do to improve my channel, found the list on reddit
- Bad content
- Lack of money to improve the content
- Lack of ideas to improve the content
- A lack of YT SEO knowledge
- Bad graphic design (branding, thumbs etc)
- Bad editing
- Bad sound design
- Little or no ‘presence’ on screen
its not for lack of ideas, I have so many of ideas but the cost of ideas take large amount of research and time like one video is 10-15+ hours of work. Money I believe is not going to improve the channel if we still have a content problem.
My content is driven from my own exprience and books I am reading or thoughts that I have, I believe chasing trends is not great for me because I really have no experience in relation to those trends.
We start with Thumbnails, Content for now.
Thumbnail Improvement
The major improvement is thumbnail design, I never really considered this before the thumbnail is core part of either a person clicks on your youtube video it matters!!

So I improve my thumbnails, I chose a color to be like a calling card for my channel? did my metrics improve?
We saw improvements in impressions thats good! because youtube is showing our thumbnails more
What are Impressions? How many times your thumbnails were shown to viewers on YouTube. Basically I improved my thumbnail and youtube started showing my video to viewers lot more!
However my Impressionns click-through went down by half, so potentially my thumbnail is not getting people to click through.
